Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public speechwriter. Feminist Frequency is a website with video and an online blog on the representation of gender roles in pop media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and American feminist media critique. Feminist Frequency, a web-based resource dedicated to education, which examines women's positions in the pop culture narratives It is the brainchild of Anita Sarkeesian. She also serves as the executive director. In her efforts to break down stereotypes of women that exist in pop culture, she also works on issues related the gender-specific harassment of women as well as other classes of people on the internet. Holding a master's degree in political and social thought at York University Sarkeesian is also well-known as a sought-after speaking engagement and has given speeches at TEDxWomen XOXO Festival and The United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. Passionate about issues of gender identities and feminisms from an early age she launched her site Feminist Frequency in 2009, while still a student at the University. The site was created by a woman in her early 20s with a dream to develop the series of videos on the internet that would examine gender representations in video games. However, she became victimized by online harassment. The harassment didn't discourage her. The experience only strengthened her as a feminist journalist. Numerous awards have been given to her as a way of acknowledging all the contributions that she made. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award award-winning media journalist. She also serves as the creator and director of Feminist Frequency an educational non-profit organisation that studies pop culture depictions of women.
