Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines football scholarship for his family and service in the local community. In the first place, he was born with Lucious and Jessie Selmon, on the farm close to Eufala within Oklahoma as one of their nine children. The second football was that he is the youngest of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. During his three-year tenure as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice The Sooners recorded a 32-1-1 record and captured two national titles. A third scholarship saw him named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned a degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in his time in college. Following graduation Lee Roy moved to Tampa where he spent 9 years with the Buccaneers. 3 times he was selected All-Pro. He began his business career. The first position he held was an Account Relations Manager at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked on the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored his name in 1982, as among the top 10 youths of the United States. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing 256 pounds. He captained his college team in 1975. In 1993, he became the as associate director at the University of South Florida. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave the Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
